Back the Joy --- B B t J . O r g

MEDITATE ON THE FRUIT

In Think before you Speak , I said that we can learn about our old spirit by looking at the things that it does.  It was sinful, doing all sort of things that are not doing good to God, self or others.  We still have the tendency to do these things at time.

In my response to "what do you think of my new dress?", when was the last time you said "Wow, you dress is so YOU" -- when you were thinking "It's hideous." While that may not really be a sin, we can get a chuckle out of it.  I haven't actually figured out how to honestly tell someone that the dress would look better on someone else.  I know I'd rather people not say anything that tell me they don't like what I'm wearing.  Although if it was a close friend, I'd probably be receptive to the constructive criticism.

I've been kind of talking about type of things we should no longer be doing as a born again believer.  That we should be manifesting the fruit of the spirit as given in Galations 5:22-23 .   To rattle them off, they are Love, Joy, Peace, Longsuffering, Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness, Temperance.

I recently purchased a bamboo "thing" to hang on the wall listing the fruit of the Spirit.  When I looked at it for the first time just now, I suddenly said "oops" because the words weren't the ones I learned in the King James Version of the Bible.  Oh, well--in my house, we have Love , Joy , Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self Control according to the New International Version.  I plan to use them as a daily reminder to question if I have been exhibiting these fruit during my daily walk.

I believe that if we are aligning with God through his Word and allowing ourselves to be led by the Holy Spirit, we will begin exhibiting the qualities that are given as being "offspring" of the Spirit.

I suggest you join me in meditating about the various fruit of the spirit.  Ask God for the true meaning of these qualities and how you can better internalize them into your life.
