WHAT'S MY EXCUSE? WHAT'S YOURS?
I recently received an email that really pricked my conscience.
It added to the education I've received this past year at Charis Bible
College, confirming "The Word." I'll share that email with you at the
end of this View.
We all make excuses. It's easy to put things off if we don't feel "up
to the task." An old expression is "the road to Hell is paved with
Good Intentions." Good intentions are things that never get done--probably
because we have "good excuses."
Many of our excuses may keep us from doing worldly things. But, more
often than not, excuses are what we make to God for not doing the things
that he wants.
Have you ever felt the urge to say something nice to someone--but you didn't
do it because...?
You may have just made an excuse to God.
Have you ever had someone on your mind --"I wonder why I thought of him?--but
you didn't either call or pray for the person? God probably put that
person on your mind because there was a need in her/her life.
Do you ever say "I don't know scriptures" or "I can't explain the Bible?"
Did God ever say you had to be perfect? Seems to me that many
of the people in the Bible were less than perfect. But God used many
of them. Even the bad people are used as bad examples.
So whenever you are feeling inadequate, especially when it comes to spiritual
matters...don't dispair. Take heart from the following example of
people that God used.
NO EXCUSES!
The next time you feel like God can't use you, just remember...
Noah was a drunk.
Abraham was too old.
Isaac was a daydreamer.
Jacob was a liar.
Leah was ugly.
Joseph was abused.
Moses had a stuttering problem.
Gideon was afraid
Samson had long hair, and was a womanizer!
Rahab was a prostitute!
Jeremiah and Timonth were too young.
David had an affair and was a murderer.
Elijah was suicidal.
Isaiah preached naked.
Jonah ran from God.
Naomi was a widow.
Job went bankrupt.
John the Baptist ate bugs.
Peter denied Christ.
The Disciples fell asleep while praying.
Martha worried about everything.
Mary Magdalene was, well, you know...
The Samaritan woman was divorced...more than once!
Zaccheus was too small.
Paul was too religious.
Timonth had an ulcer. and
LAZARUS WAS DEAD!
...no more excuses now.
God's waiting to use your full potential.
