Mark and I attended three inspiring meetings on January
25, 2004. Bishop David Oyedepo spoke at
New Life Church
. We normally do not attend this church but heard about the apostolic
leading of Bishop Oyedepo. One of our teachers who attends at New Life
mentioned to the class that we might be interested in attending services because
this man is a "church planter." Bishop David Oyedepo is affiliated
with
Faith Tabernacle
and
Covenant University
in Lagos, Nigeria. His church organization plants five new
churches a day. As this is unusual and fits in with our class in church
planting, we wanted to hear what he had to say.
Bishop David Oyedepo's message is that "It's time to live the Bible. It's
time to get back to the Bible." He says he is a Bible practitioner.
He is not a professional; he just likes to live the Word. The
three services devoted themselves to practical teaching on forming such a
relationship with God that we will naturally begin to flow in the gifts of
the Holy spirit. He encouraged us to read and speak scripture and
that we should speak positive things instead of dwelling on the negative.
As a result, we are uplifted and God is allowed to work in our
lives.
We unfortunately arrived late for the first service. We had assumed
that he was to give the same message for all three services; as the second
service began, it became apparent that this was not the case. We ended
up attending all three services because the material was so uplifting. I
have to say that I get excited just re-reading my notes as I write this. I
hope that you will be able to access the audio from the New Life Church sermon
archives and be edified by these teachings as much as I was.
9:00 am service I have titled it "Faith is Acting upon the
Word with Confidence."
Summary:
The Word of God steers "stuff" in our life and faith manifests it. By
reading and studying the word, our relationship with God will deepen. Our
resulting actions will be those of the followers of Christ as commissioned
by Him in the New Testament.

11:00 am service I have titled it "Speaking the Word."
Summary:
When we speak the Word, we speak into the supernatural and can change our
lives. One should think and speak the scriptures boldly. His main text
was
Proverbs 18:21
although there were many scriptures to support his points.
1. The words of your mouth are seeds.
2. The words of your mouth are prophetic.
We usually speak what is in our heart. What we speak releases or binds
God and his ministering spirits as they work in our lives.
