EXPAND YOUR VISION WEEKEND (February 12-14, 2004)
(A Seminar Review by Virginia H. Lane)
The EYV "Weekend" was fantastic. While the General Theme was encouraging
people to attend CBC next year, the messages were uplifting for everyone's
walk in life.
The sessions were by:
Wayne Knurr--He decided to treat the guests to a typical class session.
He surveyed I Thessalonians. I sure hope he doesn't include this
on the next test in New Testament survey.
Don Krow
--His powerful presentation showed us that Christ called people to be disciples
and to disciple others rather than our commission being to "convert" people
to Christianity.
Andrew Wommack
--Andrew's theme was hearing from and listening to God and obeying His instructions.
The main example was Elijah who was told by God to phropesy to King
Ahab of Israel about a drought. The King attempted to break the
dry cycle by having his holy men pray. Elijah called fire down from
heaven to consume a sacrifice. Elijah spent the remainder of the day
killing Ahab's false prophets. Then he commanded rain to come to the
land. Elijah was scared of Queen Jezebel and fled for his life. This
action ended the revival (turning to God) that was started that day when Elijah
proved that his God was greater than all other gods. If Elijah had trusted
God to keep him safe from Jezebel, the story could have turned out so very
differently. During the portion of his life given in the Bible, there
were examples of when Elijah obeyed and disobeyed God--and even acted on
his own. Elijah's actions as a prophet and Man of God affected the destiny
of the nation of Israel.
Lessons from
Elijah
can be both listened to (audio) and/or read on the AWMI website in the
teachings section. The articles cover the contents of the 3 tape album
whereas the audio is only the first tape of the series.
What are you doing here Elijah?
is another title which might be of interest. If you would like to
see what tapes are available through AWMI, the
products catalog
can be viewed online.
Linus LeFever--Linus used the time allocated to him to tell more about
CBC
. He called upon various students to tell 1) why the decided to come
to CBC and 2) how their lives have changed because of the CBC teachings. It
was interesting to hear highlights of Charlie and Pam King's mission trip
to Africa.
Friday at 1:00 pm, the conference attendees were invited to Lunch with
the Faculty and Students in the Garden Room of the Sheraton. The full-time
faculty and adjunct professors were introduced. Several students gave testimonies.
Mary Jo Mast was asked to give a special testimony on what it is like
to be a stay at home Mom with five children while her husband attends school.
On Saturday morning, Mark and I were table hosts for the Brunch. After
eating, we were encouraged to attend the separate men's and women's meetings.
Linus LeFever spoke to the men. Several men gave testimonies
of how CBC had changed their lives. Mark received a compliment. Tim
Eastwell said that three men had made an impact on him. He said that
Mark hugged and encouraged him in his spiritual walk. Kay LeFever
gave the women things to consider when following their husbands into ministry.
This often means breaking up the "nest;" women need to be able to
feel stable and secure in their home. She told of their move to Russia
to start a Bible School; it was difficult to leave their 18 year old son
behind in Nebraska.
The evening sessions were started by Praise and Worship music led by Jan
Knurr and a band made up of CBC students and alumni. The whole conference
has been uplifting. The best part has been talking to people. I
was having a rough time last February when we went to EYV. It meant
a lot to us to meet the students. Our friends Dorcas and Doyle Payne
prayed with us and encouraged us.
